About Our Organization
For children who face the overwhelming odds of a serious medical condition, the bad times can be truly devastating. Make-A-Wish® exists to remind kids of all the amazing possibilities of life and to help them through the most difficult parts of their journey.
We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. We're the largest wish-granting charity in the world with more than 62 chapters in the U.S. and its territories. Make-A-Wish granted more than 15,300 wishes last year alone – each one a life-affirming testament to hope, inspiration, and resilience. Wishes strengthen wish kids and their families, rally communities together, and change the lives of everyone involved. The Central and Western North Carolina chapter was founded in 1985 and has granted more than 4,000 wishes. Our chapter covers the state from Alamance County west. We expect to grant more than 300 wishes in 2017, at an average cost per wish of $6,000.
