|ďDonít call it a comeback, Iíve been here before.Ē - James Todd Smith|
|When I first heard the idea of hiking 28 miles in one day, I swore to myself I would never do it. After completing it last year, I swore I would never do it again. So this year, why am I back?!?!?!? Simple, Iím not that bright of an individual. |
But seriously, as hard as last year was, it was nothing when compared to what these wish kids and their families endure as they go through treatment for their life-threatening medical conditions. Although I felt like my training was on point last year, a few last minute tactical decisions made my experience slightly more difficult than I anticipated. Despite Team Puma Hunter achieving legendary hiker status (in my opinion at least) I want a rematch with this hike. This time itís personal. (Cue the 80s instrumental, the headband, and a montage of me training with a sweet pair of Beats headphones.)
This year I have two goals, the first is to beat the trail, after it whipped me last year (Note: I did finish.) My second goal is to fund at least one wish. So the same rules of donating I had last year apply to this year. First, for every $1 you donate, I will personally match that donation and then use my company match to make your $1 gift count as $3!!!! (My only caveat is Iíll match up to a total of $1,500, but thatís fine print material, letís worry about that when we get there, which we will.)
So please help me reach my fundraising goal, I wonít let you down on my personal goal. But more importantly, help Make-A-Wish grant the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses. Over the organization's 30-year history, they have found that granting a wish is often the best medicine possible. It is a prescription that changes a childís outlook on life and generates a smile for the first time in a long time.
